About the event
The workshop is a one-day session.
In this workshop, we will delve into the narrative and expressive possibilities of dance gestures in connection with images, perception, and the sound of speech. Using Instant Composition tools, we will engage in a practice that includes the voice and merges the musicality of poetic languages. A path that allows us to experience and refine our intuitions, leading towards new creative processes and forms of communication with others... moving from poetic text to bodily stories.
Through intense physical work, we explore movement in its immediacy and instinctive nature, linked to space-time-musicality.
The practice then unfolds along the path of language. We will first explore how the sound of speech opens access to the imaginary. The physical echoes of simple and everyday words, as well as the diverse languages spoken by each participant, will enhance our perceptions. Then, following the emotional molding by the voice, we will delve into texts to grasp how gestures, crossed by words and stories, can become instruments of memory and metamorphosis.
The sound of voice in poetic languages foreshadows boundaries of unexplored territories within to perform and create.
Informed by recent research, the workshop will integrate texts from international contemporary female poets including Arabic and Iranian voices. Participants are encouraged to bring any text of their choice, whether it's poetic, narrative, a shopping list, a grandmother's receipt, or even a love letter to their favorite pizza, as long as it's in their native language.
The work is supported by the Iranian musician Sara SIami.
